Where it all began…

Where it all began…

Hi from The Shrimp Stop team!

Here is a brief history. We started breeding and selling shrimp and related products from 2014, and due to popular demand and to grow the hobby in South Africa, we have decided to upscale a little bit. For us it all started with the shrimp most of us start off with, your run of the mill RCS. It was probably the most amazing thing that we have ever kept in the years spent in the aquatic hobby. But as with most “new” things we try, it didn’t go well, as I lost all but one. When we tried to look for answers the internet only said that they breed easy, no issues… but… I only had males, so how could they. Yes the LFS where we got them didn’t know. (Think most, if not all have gone through this) After the “error” we got some more and they started breeding. We still have the generations of shrimp from that first ones we started off with.
Now we skip forward a couple of months. Got our hands on another colour. Set up some more tanks (now 5 in total) and have a steady supply of shrimp ready to be sold. In this time I met a lot of people, all wanting more info, and asking how we do things. We found out that products in different parts of the country are hard to get or are completely unavailable. Like the guy we met from Ellis Ras, who drove down on a weekend to come get some shrimp and left with a complete setup.
Shrimp keeping took off, but getting all of the colour variants you want still seemed to be an issue, to get food is still an issue, and maybe you are also looking for moss and plants, rocks and wood, but can’t get where you stay, or shops cant ship it to you.
We aim to change that. Our aim is to be your one stop shrimp shop, but also where you can get all the other products you need. We will only sell the highest quality shrimp and products at a price that we are willing to buy it for ourself. All products are used by us, in our tanks daily. We are not sponsored in any way by any of the company’s products that are, and will be available on our site. All shrimp pictures are our own, taken in our own tanks and copyrighted by shrimpstop.co.za
So for now, we would like you to have a look at our shop. If there is anything that is not listed, and that you would like us to add, or have a look at please mail Armand at armand@shrimpstop.co.za
From us at Shrimp Stop, welcome to the Shrimpers family. #Shrimpers4life
